A Guide to Self-Heal with Reiki
Knowing Reiki in Order to Self-Heal:
Reiki is a form of alternative therapy that originated in Japan in the late 19th century. The word "Reiki" is derived from the Japanese words "rei," meaning universal, and "ki," meaning life energy or vital force. Reiki is based on the principle that a practitioner can channel healing energy into a patient by means of touch to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
The practice of Reiki is often used for stress reduction, relaxation, and promoting healing. During a Reiki session, a practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the recipient's body, allowing the energy to flow through their hands to the recipient. This energy is believed to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote a sense of balance and inner peace. Within the session there can be a large focus on the 7 main chakra centers of the body. This includes the Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown. Utilizing crystals that align with each chakra, herbs to cleanse the space & vessel. Deep breathing, and sound healing through instruments like a drum, Tibetan bowl or any other drum or sound healing instrument. There can also be use of guided meditation to balance the chakra centers and clear the mind.
Reiki is non-invasive and can be used in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic techniques. In fact, Reiki has scientifically been proven to assist with healing in conjunction with other therapies. Many people report feeling a sense of warmth, relaxation, and well-being during and after a Reiki session. It is often used to help with various physical and emotional issues, such as pain, anxiety, fatigue, and general well-being.
Reiki is seen as a gentle and natural way to help the body heal itself, promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and supporting overall health and well-being.

To begin your self-healing practice, create a sacred space where you can relax and focus on your well-being. This can be a quiet corner of your home, adorned with calming elements like candles, crystals, or soothing music. Setting the intention for healing and self-care is essential to the Reiki practice. Before any Reiki work, whether with a Practitioner or with Self, it is very important to set clear intentions on your energy work. What you want to focus on and your goal for the session. I will elaborate on intentions in the next section.
3. Self-Treatment Hand Positions:
Start your self-healing session by placing your hands in self-treatment positions on different areas of your body. Begin with the crown of your head, and slowly work your way down to your feet, focusing on each chakra point and energy center along the way. Allow the healing energy of Reiki to flow through your hands and penetrate your body, releasing any blockages and promoting balance. See the pictures below for each placement on the body.
4. Mindfulness and Visualization:
Incorporate mindfulness techniques and visualization exercises into your self-healing practice with Reiki.
